KENT, David Donald - Don passed away peacefully at the F. J. Davey Home February 24, 2024 at the age of 92, with "his girl" Shirley by his side and his granddaughter Morgan holding his hand.

Dad and Mom shared 67 years of marriage. They built their home and lives together in Echo Bay, where they raised 3 sons James, Peter (Candis) and Stephen (Nelda). Dad was the proud Grandpa of Craig (Brittney) Kent, Lisa (Darryl) Connell, Morgan (Jeff) Mills, Jessica (Matthew) Rice, Juliana (Bryce) Hurley, Mariah Kent and Halle Kent. Great-grandpa of Evy and Owen Mills, Kayden and McKayla Kent, Ryker, Rhiatt and Ragnar Connell and Elsie and Brynlee Hurley.

Don was the youngest son of Percy and Ella Kent. He was raised on St. Joseph Island with his late siblings Madeline (Roland), Jack (Kay), Marjorie (Morris) and Beatrice (Cecil). He is lovingly remembered and survived by his sister Phyllis (late Bob). Dad was loved by Shirley's family the late Horace and Vi Taylor, brother-in-law of the late Bob (late Arlene), late George (Jan), late John (late Kirsten) and late Judy (late Ron) Taylor. Remembered by brother-in-law Bill (Aila).

Dad was admired by his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. They have wonderful stories and memories of times they spent learning to repair vehicles, grow and harvest a garden, learning to drive around the yard "back 40", singing silly songs and constructing just about anything imaginable.

By trade, dad was an Auto and Diesel Mechanic, a Gas Fitter and an all around "Jack of All Trades". He found a new passion when he began a new career teaching many different trade related subjects for Sault College. His students valued and appreciated his vast knowledge and ability to teach in a manner anyone could understand. Dad was a long-time member of the Echo Bay Elks. Retirement years allowed time for Don and Shirley to share their love of Horticulture with the community and the Jr Horticultural Society. They enjoyed their travels to many destinations and spent countless hours making memories with their children and grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at the F. J. Davey Home and Kent and Margo Gibson of Puddingstone Place for the compassionate care received.

Don never enjoyed being the centre of attention. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522). Memorial contributions (by cheque or online) to the Echo Bay Elks or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.  Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Kent family.
