Peacefully and with dignity at the Plummer Memorial Hospital on Saturday, July 8, 2006 in his 80th year. Son of the late Elmer & Hilda Hurley. Loving husband of 60 years of Arvella. Beloved father of Carol Findlay (Jim) of Echo Bay, Lorna Guise (Dan) of Steinbach, Manitoba and Wesley of Vancouver B.C. Cherished grandfather of Kathy Politano (Anthony) and the late Dean (Jimmy) Morrison . Great grandfather of Kasey & Zackary Politano & the late Anthony Jr. Dear brother of Graham (Dorothy) and the late Beulah McCarrel-Scott (late John McCarrel and Wilson Scott). Brother –in-law of Ethel Rathwell (late Bill), Bernice Rathwell (late Ken), Joyce Newman (late Roy) and the late Carl Rathwell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. After joining the army, Calvin returned to have a successful career at Algoma Steel as an stationary engineer. He enjoyed politics at the municipal level, serving as a councilman and reeve of Echo Bay for several years. Calvin also held other municipal positions, but there was always time for his sports which he played with a passion. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 from 11 am until time of service in the chapel at 1 pm. Rev. Rolly MacLean officiating. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Echo Bay United Church or to the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care Fund would be appreciated by the family. Members of the Elks Lodge #535 Echo Bay are requested to assemble at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at 10:30 am for a memorial service for the late Calvin Hurley at 11:00 am.
