(October 9, 1932 - December 5, 2016) - Passed peacefully from this life at Algoma Manor in Thessalon, ON with her husband David and some of her family in attendance. Forty family members had visited a few weeks earlier to celebrate their marriage of 65 years. Parkinson's Disease and dementia robbed Verna of quality of life in her final years, but she is remembered lovingly as a wonderful and giving mother of 8, grandmother of 22, great-grandmother of 22, sister, aunt and friend to many. "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also."  She is survived by her husband David Hotchkiss, her children Margaret (Vern) Hibbard, Bernice Raben, Linda (Bob) Haskayne, Gary (Geraldine) Hotchkiss, Nancy (Chris) Moore, Keith Hotchkiss, Tom (Susan) Hotchkiss and daughter-in-law Sherri-May Timm, 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister Reta Tokely, sisters-in-law Nancy Webster, Ruth Peckham, Elizabeth Lock, Mary (Harold) Long, Martha (Dirk) Brobbel and brother-in-law Timothy (Beth) Hotchkiss.  Pre-deceased by father George Curtis Webster, mother Hazel Mary (Baker) Webster, brothers Gerald and Keith Webster and sister June Bateman, and in 2003 by her youngest son Paul Wayne Hotchkiss.  Verna dealt with adversity early in her life, facing a crippling accident at age 13, walking again against all odds and bearing eight children. She had a strong faith in her Lord to carry her through her life. The family lived in many places throughout their life and Verna held the family together through it all.  The family gives their sincere thanks to the Algoma Manor staff, especially Tammy and Colleen, who were such a great support for the family during many difficult times.   Friends may call at the Thessalon Church of Christ on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Memorial service will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11:00 am with Bill Bunting officiating.  Donations in Verna's memory to Great Lakes Bible College would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Beggs Funeral Home, Thessalon, Ontario.
