Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of 51 years to Vera Jean Hobbs (nee Pofahl).  Loving father of Dawn and her husband John Whyte. Proud and loving grandfather of Nathan Whyte. Son of the late Harvey and Sarah Ann Hobbs. Dear brother of the late Gordon Hobbs (Betty) and Kenneth Hobbs. Predeceased by sister Marilyn Hobbs in infancy.  Brother-in-law of Elaine Foss (late Roger),  Darrel Pofahl (Yvonne) and Glen Pofahl (Christine).  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Harvey was a man of many careers. After a 5 year stint in the Royal Canadian Air Force, his air career continued as a flying instructor and a bush pilot. He worked for many years as railroad yardman for CP Rail.  His love of nature and science lead him to attain his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Engineering, followed by contract work for the MOE in SSM and Elliot Lake and then several years developing and implementing the Environmental Program for the Minnesota Counties of Goodhue/Wabasha, which included restaurant inspections for the State. Recently he enjoyed a role he created as Organizer for coffee groups of Retirees in Sault Ste Marie.

Harvey was happiest when he was helping other people, giving out advice, cooking and bringing people together. He loved nature, planes and his grandson. His ribs were legendary, as were many of his recipes, and he loved to share his cooking.  In addition to his duties as neighbourhood driveway snow blower, treat creator and general dad, he was also an amateur winemaker and loved to share his latest bottle on the deck.  He was a member of Central United Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 25.

In keeping with Harvey's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.  Memorial donations made payable by cheque or online to Central United Church, Canadian Legion Branch No. 25, the Bushplane Heritage Centre, or charity of choice  would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Hobbs family.
