On Saturday, February 11, 2023 Diane Hilderley (nee Buchanan) passed away peacefully after a brave battle with multiple cancers.

The earthly loss of this beautiful soul is mourned by her high school sweetheart, love of her life, and devoted husband, Sid Hilderley. Her 3 children, her raisons d'etre, Jeff, Erin (Mark) and Lauren (Adam) will miss Mommaloochie with all their hearts. Daughter of the late Clifton and Mary Buchanan (Cameron), sister to Lois Bentson (George), the late Coyla Graver (Charles), and the late Duane Buchanan (Gwen). As well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Diane loved to laugh (usually at her own jokes) cook, craft and cuddle. Some of her favourite hobbies were boating, gardening and spending time with her grandkids. These qualities made her a perfect Gamma to Sydney, Axton, River, Isla, Theodore, Pearson and Clover. She had the pleasure of being a Gamma for almost twenty years. Her joy at being called Gamma was matched only by the joy she found watching her grandkids grow.

While family always came first, Diane found meaning and pride in her work as a nurse for over 40 years which included hospital nursing, public health, teaching, labour negotiations, home care, and the Executive Director of ARCH. She believed in the importance of serving her global family, as a founding member of Tumaini Afrika. She and the Tumaini group were a catalyst in promoting health and education for the underprivileged in Kenya.

In her last moments, Diane was surrounded in love by her husband, sister, kids and grandkids.
