With heavy hearts, we regret to announce the passing of James Hertzog at the age of 66 years on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Sault Area Hospital Plummer Site. He leaves behind his devoted wife Louise. Dear son of Oscar and Lily Herzog (DiAngelo) of Sault Ste. Marie. Father of Cindy Findlay (Ashburn) and Jamie Hertzog (Kerry) of Brandon, MB. He will also be greatly missed by his sister Kathy and his fellow Maple Leafs fan, Marianne Disano. Jim was also step-father of Dwayne Trudeau (Trudy) and Krista Peters (Roy) of Brighton, MI. Grandfather of Adam, Daniel and Matthew Findlay and Ava Hertzog. Step-grandfather of Andrew and Michael, Alexx, Amanda and Brittany. Special great-grandpapa Jim of James Findlay. He will be missed by Aunt Erma DiAngelo and special family friend Terry Chapman as well as friends and cousins Sandra Grigg, Mike and Marilyn Cowan and Anthony and Cheryl Barsanti of Detroit and many other dear cousins and friends. After high school, Jim serviced in the U.S. Airforce where he studied electronics, later moving back to Sault, Ontario where he worked at Algoma Steel until his retirement. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 1 pm. Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. A celebration of Jim’s life will follow at 4 East Street in the Common Room at 3 pm. Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or Cystic Fibrosis Canada would be appreciated by the family.
