The family regret to announce the passing of Steve Hawryluk at the Sault Area Hospital on November 13, 2014 at the age of 81. Pre-deceased by his wife Maxine in 2012, he is survived by his children Pat Pitre and Mary Ann Rosenberg (Charles) as well as his grandchildren Nathaniel, Celina, Caryn, Michaela and Rebecca. He is survived by one sister, Mary and pre-deceased by his siblings Mike, Matty, John, Bill, Nick, Jean and Ann, he is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Steve was a dedicated police officer and he served briefly with the Sudbury Regional Police Force before moving to Elliot Lake in 1958 where he proudly served the Elliot Lake Police Force until he retired. Due to failing health, he moved to the Algoma Manor in Thessalon two years ago and enjoyed his remaining years. Friends will be received at the Elliot Lake Funeral Chapel & Cremation Centre (36 Ontario Ave) on Monday, November 17, 2014 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Cremation with interment in Woodlands Cemetery will follow at a later date. Memorial contributions to the Algoma Manor Equipment Fund would be appreciated by the family.
