HARTEN, Elizabeth 'Tootsie'

Posted

HARTEN, Elizabeth “Tootsie”, entered eternity quietly Wednesday Morning, February 19th at the Davey Home. Now she is with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who she loved and served faithfully over her Ninety years. She is now with her wonderful husband and best friend Leonard. Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Bonnee and daughter-in-law of James Harten, Sarah Harten and Beatrice Harten, all deceased. She is the sister-in-law of Betty Horbatuk and William Horbatuk who are both deceased. Elizabeth’s life was greatly enriched by several nieces and nephews and many cousins especially Roy and Laura Harten. Special long-time friend of Gerry Luxton. Elizabeth received the most wonderful care over the last six years from the faithful staff and management of the F.J. Davey Home. We are so blessed in Sault Ste. Marie to have such friendly, caring and professional workers taking care of our loved ones. Elizabeth and Leonard were the owners of the beautiful Pine Island Lodge and Cabins and co-owners of Soo Tinsmith and Roofers. They worked effortlessly to establish Our Saviour’s Evangelical Lutheran Church which started out in the Theatre at the Sault Armory and closed in the beautiful Church which they helped build on Elizabeth Street. Friends and family are invited to call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 492 Wellington St. E., on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 1 pm to 2:45 pm. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 3 pm. Reverend Jeff Grundmeirer of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sault Michigan, will officiate. Memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Society, Soo Soup Kitchen and Davey Home would be greatly appreciated. Expressions may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com
