Passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga, ON at the age of 70.
Beloved husband of Brenda for 45 years.
Loving father of Liz (Ryan) and Andrew (Liz).
Cherished grandfather of Elliott.
Dear son of Joyce and the late Ernie.
Brother of Jim (Ann), Kenn (Jeannie), Don (Pam), Richard (Carrie) and David. Brother-in-law of Judy (Arnold), the late David (late Carol) and Brian (Lisa). Beloved uncle and grand-uncle to many.
Gerry found happiness in building a life with the love of his life for over 45 years, Brenda. The two grew a business together, traveled the world together and raised a family together. He was endlessly proud of his children’s accomplishments and loved telling stories about what Liz and Andrew were up to. He was honoured to hold the name “Grumps” and could not say no to giving Ellie a ride on his shoulders. Gerry valued serving others and was always an involved member of his community. Most recently, as a member of the Blue Springs Condo Board, he introduced recycling and food donation initiatives. Gerry wore many hats – from businessman, to handyman, to golfer. But he took the most pride in being known as a family man. His favourite place in the world was at the dinner table, sharing a meal (and especially dessert) with those he loved. He will be remembered by many as a loving son, brother, uncle, father, friend, husband and grandfather.
Private cremation has taken place. Arrangement entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
