GUZZO, Nora Grace

Posted

March 22, 1922 - May 31, 2011 – The Lord is my Shepherd…He restoreth my soul. Today we celebrate the life of Nora Grace Guzzo, who after a determined struggle passed away at the Sault Area Hospital in her 90th year. Daughter of the late Frank and the late Myra Hazell, Nora grew up in Hamilton, ON and is survived by her brother Gerald (Elsie) still residing in Hamilton. In 1948, after moving to the Sault with her husband Ernie (May 7, 2006), they had three children. Son, Gerald, who remembers stringing Cheerios on the floor with mom, son Terry (Jenny) who recalls resting his head in her lap and her stroking his hair until he fell asleep and daughter Wendy (Don Mitchell) who warmly recalls the hours spent sitting in the garden discussing what plants to move where and what will be coming up next spring. Nora was so proud of her two grandsons Richard and Alex and was delighted with her great granddaughter Teaghan Lee of Ottawa, all of whom she got to see before she passed on. She was a special 2nd mom to Susan Olive, whom she loved and spoke of with great affection. Nora was a truly precious gift to our lives. She was an astonishingly kind soul with a tender heart and a loving way. She accepted and loved people just the way that they were and you could feel that love so deeply that it could heal a hurting heart. She loved to make music and her gift at the piano made for a warm and joyful family gathering and the making of precious moments and memories. She spent endless hours in her garden and had an amazing desire to restore the specimens that others would consider lost. We love you mom and we will never forget you. Go now and meet your Ernie, your mom and dad and your “Auntie Wood”. Go now and find your “Stranger of Galilee”. Love Gerald, Wendy & Terry. Special thanks to the Angels at Van Daele Nursing Home. You were not only her caregivers but, you became her loving family. You loved her like she was your own. A private family celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Van Daele Nursing Home or the Sault Area Hospital Palliative Care Fund in honour of their amazing compassion for patient and family. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 705-759-2522. Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.
