Peacefully passed away on April 16th, 2007 in his 87th year, surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband of Caterina (Gatto) for 69 years. Loving father of Tony Guzzo (Mary), Linda Coccimiglio (Carmen) and John Guzzo (Susan). Cherished Nonno of Gene Guzzo (Paula Naccarato), Katrina Guzzo (Craig Pierman), reunited with his beautiful grandson Paul, Carrie (Stephen and pupetta Caterina Apa), Freddie and Elisa Coccimiglio, Jenna, Steven and Kevin Guzzo. Predeceased by his beloved parents Caterina and Antonio Guzzo and his step-mother Francesca Guzzo. Loving son-in-law of Maria and Geniale Gatto, special sisters Maria Mazzei (Santino), Peppina (Salvatore Pizzutto), brothers-in-law Settimio Gatto (Gilda), Antonio Gatto (Adelina), Michele Buffone (Teresa), Giuseppe Gatto, Rosario and Rosaria Gatto. Survived by his brother and sister Rosina (late Eugenio Cuglietta) and Francesco Guzzo (Antonia). Brother-in-law of Giovanni (Lucia Guzzo), Ortenzia Guzzo (Francesco), Ida DeGregorio (late Francesco), Ricco Gatto (late Antonia), Emma Gatto, nephews Pino Gatto, Franco Aldo and Pino Mazzei, cousins Agostino and Maria Guzzo. Lovingly remembered by many other nieces and nephews. Our dad loved to reminisce about the challenges and hardships he faced during World War II, the depression and his journey across the ocean to make a better life for his family in Canada. He will be remembered for his unwavering strength, his unconditional love for his children and grandchildren, whom he adored and baked bread and biscottis for in the early mornings. His passions were fishing and gardening. His giving spirit will leave an indelible mark on all who knew him. Friends may call at Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758) on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Veronica's Church on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Ron Ambeault officiating. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial donations made to St. Veronica's Building Fund or the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to his cherished friends Rosaria and Emilio Pedetella, his neighbours Luigi and Lydia Oliano, Henry Lariviere and his other friends who visited him often. We are very grateful to Dr. Pearson his fishing buddy, Dr. Maione, Dr. Berg, Dr. Meligrana and the 200A nursing staff. Thank you to Pastor John Kaminiski and Father Ron Ambeault for their visits and prayers. We love you my husband, our dad and our Nonno. Ciao.
