Griffith, Marguerite Juliette

Posted

After a long battle with cancer, fought with great
courage and dignity, Marguerite passed away at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Saturday, February 7, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was the loving
wife of Frederick for 52 years, beloved and respected mother of Louise (John), Matthew (Brigitte), and Kathleen and cherished "Mama", to Matthew Min and Jordan.
Sister of Anna Marie Perry (Garfield), Janine Mignault (André) and the late Marie-Germaine LeBlanc (late Loyola). Predeceased by her parents Lélice and
Christine LeBlanc. She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Special "Mom" to Michelle Dungey. Fondly remembered by Ron Barry. Marguerite
touched countless lives and hearts in many ways, notably by her involvement as a singing teacher in Moncton, Montreal and finally in Sault Ste. Marie. Many students
from years past have kept in touch as she was not only their teacher, but a confidante and friend. Through her dedication to music she became a founding member, and later President and Life Member of the Musical Comedy Guild. Marguerite received the Medal of Merit from the City of Sault Ste. Marie in 1996 for her extraordinary contribution to the Arts in the Sault and area. Marguerite
radiated joy and kindness and as a result attracted many true friends. Thank you to the many wonderful friends who visited, dedicated an afternoon a week to Marguerite,
phoned, brought food or flowers and who kept us all in their thoughts and prayers. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 13, 2009 at Precious Blood Cathedral
at 1:30 pm. Father Michael Williams officiating. Friends and family are invited to join us at the Quality Inn on Bay Street immediately after the mass for a celebration of Marguerite's life. Memorial donations to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Thank you to nurses Jen and Leo from Bayshore Home Health Care, homemakers Debbie and Cathy, Dr. Walde and the entire staff of the Oncology Unit, Dr. Buehner, Helen Ross, Lisa Rowlinson and Nina Payandeh and the staff and volunteers at ARCH. Everyone who has had the honour of calling Marguerite mother, daughter, sister, wife or friend was truly blessed.
