Doreen Anne Gribbon (nee Lesnick), age 94, passed away peacefully at the Finnish Rest Home on February 22, 2023.

Doreen was born on July 19, 1928, to John and Winnifred Lesnick in Fort William, Ontario. Most of her early years were in Pembroke, Ontario where she started working for Bell Canada as an “hello girl” after she completed high school.

She married Ernest Herbert Gribbon (deceased 2006) and moved to Sault Ste. Marie shortly after. Her family was her greatest joy, and she will be greatly missed by her children Carol (Greg Coutu), Elaine, John (Lori), Penny, and Paul (Joanne). Dear grandmother of Christopher Coutu (Wanda) and Jennifer Steinmoeller (Derek), Keri Anne Smith (Ryan), Pamela Girardi (Colleen Barrett) and Christine Girardi (Craig Olinski), Jeffrey (Hayley) and Patrick (Lija) Gribbon, Derrek, and Brielle Coccimiglio. Dear great grandmother (GiGi) to 18 great grandchildren.

Doreen returned to the work she loved at Bell Canada where she eventually became a supervisor and trainer of operators retiring in 1985. Her love of bone china led to an extensive collection which was used for many events that she loved to host. She was an active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel CWL. There were many family jokes about her love of food and how she could always remember what she had eaten no matter how many years had passed.

Doreen was sister to Josephine Helferty (late Gordon), John Lesnick (Paulette) and the late George Lesnick (Delores), Joan Risto (late Stan) and Tom Lesnick (Joan). Aunt to many.
