Peacefully passed away, surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, December 9, 2022 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Dawn for 40 years. Cherished father of Joanne Spina (Raymond) and the late Patrice Gregoire. Step-father of Dean Haldenby and Kim Morningstar. Gabe loved his grandchildren Kyle, Cassidy and the late Walker. Predeceased by his parents Adrien and Alice Gregoire. Dear brother of Georgette, Jacqueline, Roland, Marie-Blanche, Andréa, Ernest, Robert, Perrette and predeceased by Columbe, Adrienne, Fernande, Marguerite and Clarisse. Lovingly remembered by his many niences, nephews and friends.
Gabe moved to the Sault at the young age of 20, speaking only French. He became a master plumber and proud owner of Gregoire Plumbing & Heating. He fought to establish a union to protect all plumbers. A few short years later, he purchased a beef farm in Bar River where he started his meat shop and government inspected slaughterhouse – which became Gregoire Meats. He worked tirelessly in the fields, until late at night, even birthing calves in the middle of the night and then would go on to work as a plumber throughout the day. In his later years, he loved fishing with his love and many camping trips with his family. We are so proud of you, Dad.
At Gabe’s request, there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) would be appreciated by the family.
