Surrounded by his family at the Sault Area Hospital, he was peacefully called up by the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2019 to watch over us from above.
Survived by his "wifie" Denise of 48 years and by his children Michael Jr., John Paul (Christine) and Tammy Bishop (Arron). Very proud Papa of Jarrett, Adam, Maicie, Alexander, Brittany, Alexis, Theron and the late Reikin. Mike is predeceased by his parents James and Mildred Gowan and by his in laws Jack and Dolores Jarrett. Dear brother of Maureen Johnstone (late Bill), Tim Gowan (Bonnie) and predeceased by Mildred Mertes (late Jack), Peggy Flanagan (late Tom) and Jim Gowan. Brother in law of Heather Ralph, Rosemary Bowers (Tony), Donna Ralph (Frank Scullino) and Harold Jarrett. Mike will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mike was loved by his family both at home and work (Algoma Steel and S & T). He was a true gentlemen, always extending a handshake, a smile and if you were lucky a wink of admiration. He was a devout catholic, who was blessed to have Phil visit for prayers in his final weeks. Mike and Denise have always appreciated the love and support from Maureen.
