(1924-2022) - It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Felix Goulay on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at the age of 97.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Mary (his “honey”) after 75 years of marriage together.  Cherished and adored father of Glenn Goulay (Cindy), John Goulay (Rebecca) and Karen Byrne (Gary).  He will be fondly remembered and missed by his six grandchildren, Janna Chapman (Logan), Gabriel Goulay (Courtney), Jeffrey Goulay (Shawna), Sarah Byrne (Jesse), Emma Byrne (Adam), and Adam Byrne (Julia), who he loved ever so dearly.  Predeceased by his parents Felix Sr. and Josephine Goulay.  He also leaves behind his dear siblings Peter (Bert), Julius, late Albert (Anne), late Tony (Solange), late Margaret and late Mildred, and many nieces and nephews.

Felix had a kind heart and loved to be with people, but loved his family most of all.  He was born Likavka, Slovakia and came to Canada with his parents and oldest brother in 1930, just shy of his 6th birthday.  They lived in Montreal for a time, then moved to  Val Cote, Ontario, where the family homesteaded.  Felix spent his working years at the Sault Ste. Marie paper mill (originally Abitibi), until age 61, and was blessed to enjoy a wonderful, long retirement.  He was a hard worker and provided a safe and comfortable life for his family.  He loved his many years at his cottage, loved his nature and history shows and always had a good joke to tell.  He loved baseball and was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Toronto Blue Jays.  May he be in our hearts forever, and may he rest In Peace.

A heartfelt thank you to all of his medical and support caregivers, and especially to the staff at ARCH who cared so compassionately for him in his final days.

Friends may visit the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522) on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 9:30 am until 10:30 am.
