Passed away peacefully at ARCH Hospice, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on Sunday, March 21, 2021.
Gerald was born on the 21st of November 1942 in Sudbury, Ontario the eldest son of Nazaire and Viola (nee Marshall) Gionette. Beloved husband of Karen (nee LeClair). Loving father of Gerald Jr. (Holly) and stepfather of Nicole Walker and Renee Jolicoeur. Grandfather of Jerilee Tugwood (Jesse), Anissa Williamson and Shannon Jolicoeur-Malas. Great grandfather of Brody Tugwood and Jack Williamson. Brother of Ned Gionette (Irene), Rosemarie Colasacco (Sandy), Raymond Cole (Rhonda), Paul Gionette (Jean) and the late Gilbert. Uncle of several nieces and nephews.
Gerald served with NATO Forces in Germany from 1960 to 1963 with the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada and was a proud Veteran of the Royal Canadian Legion for 55 years. A dedicated Montreal Canadian hockey fan and an avid hockey player and coach for many years.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Gerald’s life and inurement at Pine Grove Cemetery, Thessalon, ON will be held at a later date.
