Passed away suddenly at his home, at Pt. Aux Pins, on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the age of 78 years. Beloved husband of the late Vivian Mae DiPietro. Loyal companion of Etta Boyd of Bonita Springs, Florida. Dear father of John Jr., Stephen (Karen), Judi Gilbert, Todd (Sharon), Amy Reeves (Jeff) and the late Robin Gilbert. Proud grandfather of Ashley, Bradley, Shayna, Bryan, Nikki, Amanda, Alisha, Dylan and Gabrielle. Son of the late Burton and Clara Gilbert. Brother of the late Anson (Terry), Barbara Maunder (John), Bud (June) and Gary (late Mary). John will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. He is a retiree from Algoma Contractors and Algoma Steel. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758) on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 1:30 until time of funeral service in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Mr. Gene Monin officiating.
