George Frederick (Jeff) Rowland

83, passed away on December 30, 2008. He was born in Sault Ste. Marie on March 9, 1925 and resided both in the Soo and in Tucson, Arizona. He is survived by his wife, Doreen, and his daughter, Penny, of Tucson. He is also survived by his grandchildren: David of Tucson, Arizona; Tricia Murphy and Theresa Gathing of Blanco, New Mexico; Stefani Walsh of Toronto, and Brooke Walsh of Montreal. He is predeceased by his daughter, Pat Walsh of Scottsdale, Arizona, and his parents, Harry Frederick Rowland and Orris Pratt Rowland of Sault Ste. Marie. Jeff was very active in the Canadian Red Cross and enjoyed his work with the Searchmont Ski Patrol. He loved people and the outdoors and spent many happy hours with his “hunt-club” buddies sharing old memories and creating new ones. The family is indebted to a number of people who provided so much love and support over the past couple of years: Susan Barnes and Michael Steinwedel who became our angels and adopted family, to the staff of Angel Associates who have provided such wonderful companionship and care, and to the staff of the F. J. Davey Home who provided not only excellent care but loving support to the whole family.


Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Sunday, January 4, 2009 for a Memorial Service at 3 pm. Rev. Rosalie Goos officiating.
