February 7, 1937 – June 20, 2022

We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, at the age of 85.

Sally was the daughter of the late Ross and the late Eva Goodmurphy (nee Flood). She was predeceased by her siblings Mel, Leah, Henrietta, Arthur, Stella, Kenny and Joy, spouses Lloyd Bird and Calvin Gardiner as well as her son Tom. Loving mother of Cindy MacLean (Peter). Grandmother of Ross (Tammy), John (Alica), Jessica (Josh), Christy (Chris) and Amy. Great grandmother of 8. Lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, friends and musical and extended family.

Sally lived music. Her whole life revolved around her gift of music. She played the piano, playing by ear from age 3. She played in several bands including the St. John Orchestra and Birds and Company. She also shared her gift with local church choirs along with long time friend Shirley Taylor.

Most recently she played for church services and musical sharing circles at Light Haven Christian Home where she lived the final chapter of her life.

Sally was a proud native Cockburn Islander and cherished her time spent there with family and friends at her “Aunt Polly’s Place”.

She enjoyed travelling with friends and family creating many happy memories.

She worked as a cashier at Jones’ grocery store for over 30 years where she was known for her outgoing disposition and friendly smile.

If desired, donations to Light Haven Christian Home or to the Cockburn Island Heritage Fund are greatly appreciated by the family.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Beggs Funeral Home to celebrate the life of Sally on Friday, August 5, 2022 beginning at 12pm until time of service at 2pm. Light lunch served. Private interment at Pine Grove Cemetery. Helen Smith officiating.
