Peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Sault Area Hospital on Wednesday January 18, 2012. Cal Gardiner of Thessalon in his 82nd year, beloved husband of Sally and the late Jean. Loving father Beverley Robinson (Jim), Reg (Dawna) both of Thessalon and Gordon (Susan) of Chelmsford. Step-father to Cindy MacLean (Peter) of Thessalon and Tom Bird of Trout Lake. Special Grampa Cal to Hilary Robinson, Alicia Croskery ( Malcolm ), Meghan Gardiner ( Paul ), Matthew Gardiner (M.J.) and Daniel (Sarah), Ross MacLean ( Tammy ), John MacLean ( Alicia ) and Christy McFarlane (Chris), Jessica Bird (Josh) and Amy Shaw ( Steve ) and great grampa to Cameron and Maya and Papa Cal to Grace, Connor, Callum and Dekker. Dear brother of Jim ( Joy ) of Thessalon, Shirley Daynard ( late Ken, late Bill ), Les, Murray (Gail and the late Cora), Lorna Hagan (Ron), Faye Pace (Jack), Jack (Judy), Gary (Penny) and the late Bill (Lenora). Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Cal was a well known and respected local businessman and will be sadly missed by many friends and business associates. Friends may call at the Beggs Funeral Home, Thessalon on Sunday January 22, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service at Zion United Church on Monday January 23 at 11 o’clock, the Reverend Dr. John Porter officiating. Spring interment in Maple Ridge Cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke and the Thessalon Hospital gratefully accepted. A Special thank you to the Thessalon Hospital Staff and the Staff of the Surgical Step-Down Unit of the Sault Area Hospital for the care that Cal received.
Members of the Masonic order are requested to assemble at the funeral home on Sunday January 22 at 6:45pm for a memorial service for their late Brother Cal Gardiner.
