It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carmela Garcea on Monday, September 28, 2009 at Algoma Residential Community Hospice in her 80th year. Beloved wife of the late Domenico Garcea. Much loved and respected mother of Sam (Sue) Garcea, Elizabeth (James) Belsito and Caterina (Sam) DeSumma. Mother-in-law of the late Anthony Ciccone. Special Nonna to all of her grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Katerina and Elliott Garcea, Andrew (Alex) and Laura Belsito and Camille Ciccone-DeSumma. Sister of the late Bruno Tassone, late Nicola (late Stella) Tassone, Nicolina (late Vito) Roti, Raeffaela (late Frank) Gagliardi, Luigi (Consolata) Tassone and Angela (Brunino) Filardo. Sister-in-law of Bruno (Guiseppa)Garcea and Frank (Guiseppina) Garcea. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 11am until 1pm. Funeral mass celebrated from St. Gregory's Church at 1:30 pm. Monsignor Victor Amadio officiating. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial donations to A.R.C.H. would be appreciated. A special thank you goes out to all the nurses who cared for Nonna on 200A at the General Hospital. Also we would like to thank the staff at A.R.C.H. for their constant care and devotion to Carmela especially Trieste, Wendy, Nina, April and Rose. Our "Nonna" was very special to us all. She was a kind compassionate person who had a tremendous love for her family. During Carmela's struggle during this past year, she has had continuous care and support from her sisters-in-law who sat with her for hours at her bedside along with her niece Lisa Tassone and our uncle Bruno. Our family would like to thank her close friends for their calls and visits to the hospital.
