FURKEY, James Albert (April 23, 1940 – August 16, 2012)

We regretfully announce the passing of our very proud father and Pop, Jim Furkey. Passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Sault Area Hospital with his children and very best friend and wife of 51 years, Shirley by his side. He was the son of Bette and the late George Furkey. Son-in-law of the late Annette & Tom Chevrier. Father of Chris Furkey (Trish), Colleen Davies (John), Cory Furkey (Krista James) and Cara Furkey (Dave Archibald). Loving grandfather of Jessica, Drew, Jaimie Lynne, Kaylea and Tyson. Brother of the late Minerva Handley (late Toby, late Don) and Georgina Naccarato (late John). Brother-in-law of the late Tom (Butch) Chevrier. He was a much loved uncle of Danny Boston (Janna), Doran Boston (Nadine), Dennis Boston (Tina), Debbie Bouchard (Ron), Donna Boston (Al), the late Doug Boston, John Naccarato (Wanda), Jeff Naccarato (Lisa) and Julie DiBernardo (George). Also survived by many loved great nieces and nephews. Jim had many close and dear friends who will miss him greatly. He was a member of the Elks and drove their Oncology Van to Sudbury for 11 years. The family would like to thank the staff of the Sault Area Hospital and Intensive Care Unit who made his last few days comfortable. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 1 pm until time of funeral service in the chapel at 4 pm. Elks service at 1:30 pm.
