People feigned disbelief when they discover our mothers age. They would ask her, what her secret was for keeping such a youthful appearance and attitude. She would refrain from saying “You gotta be tough to get old” and instead, with a twinkle in her eye she’d deadpan, “don’t kid yourself, I often feel 100”. It is our mother’s sense of humour, smile, kindness, and much more that we will all miss.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia "Ginny" Mary Funk on Monday, October 16, 2023, days after turning 91. She will be sorely missed by her beloved son Greg Funk (Sylvia) and daughter Ginny Funk (Rick McLaughlin). Grand children Olivia McLaughlin (friend Ryan Cheng), Sean McLaughlin, Jamie Van Hoof (Heather), Jesse Van Hoof (Kimberly) and Great grandchildren Layla, Landon, Austin, Avery and Aria who loved her as their GG. Ginny will be remembered by her brother Bob Paciocco (Judy), sister-in-law Marilyn Paciocco, as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. She will also be greatly missed by her longtime beloved friends, Lorna Greco, Aunt Joan Gregory, Marlyn and Lou Quinlan, whom we are grateful to for their ongoing love and support.

Ginny will be joining her husband George Funk, loving parents Asunta and Umberto Paciocco and her siblings Rudy (Joanne), Paul and Dorothy (Marcel). We know she will be comforted to embrace her parents and George as well as share a few laughs with her siblings.

Known as Gramma Ginny to her Toronto friends, both young and old, she will be deeply missed. She held them near and dear to her heart and was a warm, loving grandma to all.
Ginny accomplished so many things in her wonderful life, from successfully owning and operating with her husband, the Boutique Studio in the Churchill Plaza and the Browse Around Gift Shoppe at the Station Mall in Sault Ste. Marie for close to 30 years. She also publish numerous stories in the “Chicken Soup for the Soul”.

Beyond her accomplishments, she was an avid bridge player in two clubs and would often laugh saying she won the “booby prize” more times than not. She loved spending time with her friends, enjoying regular birthday lunches, cottage time, travel, walks and almost daily McDonald’s coffee outings.
Ginny in her later years could always be found playing ”Wordle”, reading a new book or watching “The Young and the Restless”.  Her true happy place was when she would enjoy a  Friday night martini, over ice with olives, lying back in her reclining chair, watching t.v. or chatting with a loved ones.
