Flumian, Sergina (Gambin)

Posted

FLUMIANIt is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sergina Flumian on Sunday, November 7, 2010 in Orangeville. Cherished daughter to Livia and the late Andrea Flumian, Sergina was born in Toronto on November 24, 1956 and raised in Sault Ste. Marie. Recently predeceased on October 26, 2010, by her loving husband, Luigi Gambin, Sergina’s passing has also left a void in the lives of her step-sons Leonardo and Lawrence.
Best friend and most loved older sister to Anthony (Sandra) Flumian, she will always be remembered as fun loving Zia to her “two boys” Marc Anthony and Michael Joseph. Most special niece of Zio Ralph Borean (late Josephine), Livio Borean, Mario Flumian and Roberto Morelli (late Maria) of Belguim. She was much loved by cousins Randy (Nancy) and Ricky Borean, Sandra (Eliano) Zuccato, Sonia Borean, Giorgio (Renata) Borean, Antonella (Carlo) Monastier and Dennis Borean of Italy, Carmela Bressan (late Luigi), Mario Bressan (Susie), Mary Bressan, Roberto Bressan (Lorena) and families . Sergina was also a very special cousin to Isabelle Wery (Morelli) and Mariutta Flumian. Sergina is survived in Canada by her niece Verna (Anthony), and her nephews Peter, Elci (Silvana), Rudy (Angela) as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins; and in Italy by sister in law and brother in law, Gina and Luciano and many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her many friends at RBC, who enjoyed her charismatic personality and genuine affection.
Lifelong companion, friend and staunch supporter of her late husband’s many commitments, Sergina was a private person who loved to read, had a passion for cooking and was known for her “world’s best polenta”. She traveled extensively, and found ironing in company of favorite old movies relaxing. Although not blessed with a green thumb indoors, she did enjoy the outdoors, with fishing and skeet shooting giving her personal gratification. A stickler for detail, nothing missed her eagle eye. Treasurer and active member of the choir, Le Voci di Friuli, for the past 12 years, Sergina also shared a love for music with her late husband and will be remembered by her many friends for her quick wit, effervescent smile, generous spirit and supportive understanding. Sergina spent the last several months caring for her late husband, leaving career and hobbies behind to take on the role of caregiver. It was God, with his loving care and wisdom that welcomed Sergina home to be with her “Gigutti”.
Viewing will be held in Sault Ste. Marie on Friday, November 12, 2010 from 8:30 to 10:30 am at the Arthur Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Gregory’s Church at 11:00 am, officiated by Monsignor Amadio.
In Toronto visitation will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Scott Funeral Home, 7776 Kipling Avenue (just North of Hwy 7), Woodbridge, (905) 851-2229. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, 150 Saint Francis Avenue, Woodbridge on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 10:00am.
In Sergina’s memory, donations may be made to Villa Leonardo Gambin Charity or the Sick Kids Foundation. The family is also accepting a teddy bear donation that will be sent to the Hospital for Sick Children and distributed over the holiday season.
