FLORENT, Gerald (Gerry) March 10, 1950-October 15, 2010 Passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at the age of 60 with his family by his side after a valiant fight. Beloved husband for 39 wonderful years of Marilyn (Suriano). Cherished father of Lori and her husband Brian MacLeod. Very proud grandfather (Bud) to Nathan, Anderson, Griffin and Brodie who will forever honour his legacy. Son of the late Lucien Florent and Pauline (Boisvert) of Sault Ste. Marie. Survived by his sisters Louise, Margo (Matt Mesich) and brother Claude (Kim). Brother-in-law and friend to George Morettin (Shawna) and Ron Suriano. Special son-in-law to Al Suriano. Uncle and Mentor to many nieces and nephews who will hold him dear in their hearts. Papa Pook to Ron Jr., Barb and Laura Cooper (Harrison). Gerry will be truly missed by many extended family members, special friends and business colleagues in Canada, the United States and Overseas. His business acumen, positive attitude and drive made him a true success and role model to many. Memorial donations can be made in Gerry’s name to the Heart and Stroke or Kidney Foundations. A Celebration of Gerry’s life will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant St (one block North of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 1 pm. Today we lost our hero, best friend and a strong warrior who will forever live on in the lessons he taught us all.
