December 10, 1933 – June 24, 2023
Passed away peacefully at Extendicare Maple View on June 24, 2023, at the age of 89 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.
Survived by her loving husband James Fitzpatrick of 44 years. Devoted mother to Louis Derrer (Sheilah), Lisa Derrer, Moira Game (Richard) and the late Karl Fitzpatrick.
Cherished grandmother to Hannah Derrer (David), Graham Derrer, Charlie Nixon (Jessica), Zack Mersereau and Adam Mersereau (Angela). Great grandmother to Ivy and Eli.
Predeceased by her parents Howard and Ethel Smith as well as her brothers and sisters Jean Guenther (late Bill), Cathy Austin (late Tom), John Smith and Ed Smith (Carol). Sister-in-law to Marion Nanni (late Alphonse) and Catherine Hewson (Zeke).
Mary had a soul full of warmth, love, and compassion, which could be seen throughout her successful career as a Registered Nurse and of course through the love of her family. She had a love of the arts, enjoying theatre, reading and her book club, and music. We will forever smile when we hear Carole King's song 'I feel the earth move'. We love you Mary, mom, gramma. Forever in our hearts.
