e are sad to announce the sudden passing of Georgina at home on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the age of 74. Loving mother of John Fitzgerald (Katrina). She was born on July 6, 1949 to the late John and the late Johanna Shuba. Sister of George Shuba (Susan), late Joe Shuba (Bonnie), and the late Albert Shuba. Daughter in-law-of the late Mary and Clarence Fitzgerald. Sister-in-law of Christina Ronsu (Martti), Nancy Harper (late Walter), Noreen McLeod (late Neil), Gerry Warmington (late James), Kelly Mills (late Alfred), and the late Bonnie and Robert Reid. She will be missed by her many cousins, nieces, and nephews from the Shuba, Fitzgerald, Zarechney, and Jonkman families.
Georgina enjoyed working at Sears for 47 years and cherished the friendships she made while there. She was also a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch #374 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Richards Landing on St. Joseph Island for many years. After retirement she would volunteer at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) and enjoyed her time and the people there very much. Georgina was a devout catholic, loved animals, and volunteered for causes she believed in for most of her life and I know that she is in heaven now reunited with family and at peace.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
