EVOY, Elaine - It is with heavy hearts the family of Elaine announces her passing on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the age of 76. Her final time at Algoma Manor was peaceful, surrounded by the love of her husband, her children, and her lifelong best friend, Linda Gudgeon.

Elaine is remembered as a devoted wife, a cherished mother, and an adored grandmother. Her love story with her beloved husband, Wendell, spanned 60 years. Together, they built a legacy through their children: Shawn (Tina), Darin (Joni), Merril (Christine), and Colleen Orr (Jeff). Elaine's heart held a special place for her grandchildren, whom she was immensely proud of: Reilly (Peter), Keegan (Taylor), Conor (Lydia), Liam (Jaceil), Kady, Gage, Kellen, Bronwyn, Ethan (Kassidy), Jacob, Caleb, Justin, and Ryan (Jenna), who will forever cherish the memories of their loving grandmother.  As a great-grandmother, Elaine's joy expanded to include Jacob, Iris, Quinn, Emory, Alex, and Grace. Preceded in death by her parents, Manley and Madeline Clark, and her brother, Wayne Clark, she is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Carol Findlay (the late Wayne), Linda Findlay (Ken) and sister-in-law Lanny Clark. The family tree extends to her in-laws, where she is mourned by Gerry Evoy (Kim) and Leona Evoy and remembered alongside the late William Evoy, Madge Hill, Beula Palmer, Verna Infanti, Edith Darou, Rilla North, Frank, Tony, Ben, Della, and Nelda Evoy. Her life and legacy continue to be celebrated by numerous nieces and nephews, each holding a special place in her heart.

Elaine represented the heart and soul of her hometown, Bar River. Her commitment to her community was unwavering. A stalwart member of the Bar River United Church, United Church Women and Women’s Institute, she volunteered alongside her dear friends, dedicating herself to the values of family, home, and community.

Mom truly lived her values, giving through her actions and the genuine care and affection she extended to everyone around her. Her legacy is not just in the handmade quilts and knitted outfits she made for her grandchildren or the lingering taste of her butter tarts, but in the indelible mark of kindness and joy, she left on the heart of Bar River. Her life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and the best pies you'd ever taste – a recipe for a life beautifully lived.
