Throughout his many years, Phil was actively involved in the Elks Lodge, dedicating himself to serving his community. His tireless efforts in the development of the Elks hockey league were instrumental in fostering the growth and success of countless young athletes. Phil's passion for music led him to found the Elks Drum and Bugle Band, that brought joy and entertainment to the Sault Ste. Marie Community Days. Additionally, proudly representing the City of Sault Ste. Marie at several Grey Cup parades.

While Phil's contributions to his community were undeniably significant, his favorite place in the world was undoubtedly his camp at Pine Island.
