Garry Gordon Emmerson passed away at St. Michael’s Hospital, with his family by his side, on Friday, June 16, 2023, at the age of 75.
Garry is survived by his beloved wife, soul mate, travel companion and fishing partner Carol De Poli (nee Acciavatti) of Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
Garry was a devoted father to his cherished daughters, Julie Emmerson and Christine Emmerson and an absolutely doting Papa to his grandchildren, Taylor, Aryanna, Mia, Aliza and great grandson Emmet.
Born in Minnow Lake (Greater Sudbury), ON, Garry is predeceased by his parents, Gordon Archie and Muriel Katherine Emmerson (Doherty). He was a loving brother to Gloria Leclaire (Pat), Gayle Desloges, Gordon Jr. Emmerson and Susan Powell.
Garry’s love for Carol included her children, Chester De Poli Jr. (Kerrie), Steven De Poli (Kathleen), Debbie Chiarello (Carlo), Ricky De Poli, and their grandchildren Amanda, Alyssa and Hudson.
Garry will be dearly missed by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
Garry was a kind and genuine man who greeted everyone with a smile. He loved to share stories and had great empathy. He was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt, fish, and truly enjoyed being outdoors. During this difficult time we are comforted to know that Garry loved us. Warm and open, he was the first to share a word of praise or a positive remark for the many people he loved. Garry made connections everywhere he went and he valued his friendships.
Cremation has taken place. At Garry’s request a private graveside service will be held at a later date. We encourage you to remember Garry’s life by sharing time with your loved ones, just as he loved to do.
