It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Alice announce her passing on Monday June 13, 2022 at the age of 96. A fiercely independent woman, mom faced all of life's challenges especially in the last few years with grace, dignity, courage, humour and incredible strength.

Beloved wife of the late Alex Elwgren (1974). Alice was the precious much loved Mother to Fred (Kathy) Elwgren, late Mike (Peggy) Elwgren, Janet (Boyde) Sharpe, Susan (Doug) Frech, John (Jeanne) Elwgren, Bonnie (Tym) Barker. The joy of her life was her grandchildren to whom she was devoted and so very proud. Left with precious memories of Grams are her adored grandchildren Chris and Stephanie Elwgren, Jamie Cramb, Luke and Matt Elwgren, Ian and Andy Sharpe, Jake and Spencer Frech, Jessica and Justin Elwgren, Lynnea and Brandon Barker and their families. Blessed with 13 great grandchildren.

Predeceased by her parents Charles and Martha Sharp, sisters Minerva Laroue, Marjorie Killoran, Geraldine Madill (O’Neill) and by her brother Lloyd Sharp. Daughter-in-law of the late John and Anna Elwgren, sister-in-law of the late Betty Deroucher (Martson) and Gerry Elwgren. Survived by her brother Clifford Sharp. Special Aunt to Barb Myers, Marlene Little, Sandra Scott and their families. Auntie Allie to multitudes of nieces and nephews.

She was the original owner/operator of the Tub Club Laundromat and Acme Vendors. Her progressing dementia was never able to rob her of the strong love and devotion she had for her family. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to this amazing woman. We will keep you in our memories forever as we reminisce over how you touched each of our lives so profoundly. You were a gift to all of us but now it is time to give you back. Our sweet little guardian angel in her little red truck. We stand taller and stronger knowing you are now watching over all of us. Thank you for showing us all the extraordinary beauty of the simple human heart.

We would like to thank the Great Northern Retirement Home, F. J. Davey Home and the Ontario Finnish Rest Home (MKK) for their loving care of mom these last 10 years.

As per mom's wishes cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East(705-759-2522). Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Please visit www.arthurfuneralhome.com to leave a message of condolence as a keepsake for the family and also view photos.  If you wish, memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to the Alzheimer Society or Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care Fund would be appreciated by the family.

Mom's caring nature and loving spirit invited many more into her family and they all became "her children".  Please do not be saddened, be happy you knew this wonderful lady!
