ELLIOTT, Ronald M.

Posted

The kind and gentle patriarch of his family, passed away on July 12th, at Centenary Health Centre in Toronto, surrounded by his loving family. Ron will be missed but never forgotten by Emily, his beloved wife of 58 years, and his devoted children, Susan (Terry Donaghue), Elizabeth (Allan Darch), Cheryl (Douglas Gilbert), Emily and Ronald Jr. (Lee-Ann). Ron was the proud grandfather of Emy and James Elliott Gilbert, Irja Elliott Donaghue and Ronnie and Justin Elliott, the cherished brother of Marion Craig, Carol Dinsmore, Stanley and Brian Elliott and the late Shirley Lavoie, and kind hearted uncle to many nieces and nephews. Ron was loved by his family and friends for his abundant humour, big heart, generosity, and knowledge of the best fishing spots. The owner of R. M. Elliott Construction Sault Ste. Marie Limited, Ron devoted many hours to the community, through his involvement with the Oddfellows Lodge and the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie. An active volunteer and staunch supporter of Rotary Community Days, Ron worked tirelessly to ensure that the event was both safe and successful. Ron was also a past member of the Sault Area Hospital Board of Directors and a trustee of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Pension Fund. Ron was a keen sportsman, with a passion for the outdoors which he shared with his family and many friends. But above all else, Ron was a family man, and the cares and concerns of those he loved always took precedence over all else.
