EAGLE, Calvin Scott - In loving memory of “Anishnaabe” aka Calvin Scott Eagle, Migizi  w‘dodemaan, Grandview, Manitoba w’giinjibaa, Fort Albany shkon’ganing w’giidebendaagozi, Saulteau/Ojibway w’gii aawi.  Midewin MinoBemaadziwin w’giinaagaadoon.

It is with great sadness that we announce that “Anishnaabe” Calvin Scott Eagle started on his spirit journey on January 31, 2024 at the SAH, peacefully surrounded by family.

Calvin found lots of healing energy while dancing at pow wow’s on turtle island, he was a kind natured being, he loved travelling, playing bingo and joking with friends, laughing, and cooking among many things. He worked most of his life and had plans in retiring at Huron Central Railway.

His is survived by his wife Mary Otakwadjiwan (Eagle). Predeceased by his mother, Doris Eagle-Lane and Grandparents Marie and Francis Eagle. Uncles and Aunts Gilbert Eagle, Albert Eagle (deceased), Stanley & Myrtle Eliza Smith (both deceased), Beverly Shangose (deceased), Grace Eagle-Clearsky, Martha Houle and Rita Eagle. He leaves behind Calvin D. Musqua, David F.A. Musqua (deceased), Sheena Ashley McKay, Austin Musqua-Ballantyne, Sidney Eagle. Step/Special children: Shirley Stevens, Ping (Epingishmook) Stevens, Bobbie Jean Otakwadjiwan-Boyer (deceased). Dear brother to Lisa Eagle, Maureen Eagle (deceased), Peggy Eagle (Deceased), and Kurt Eagle. Adopted siblings: Kevin Eagle and Darren Eagle (both deceased). Calvin will be dearly missed by his 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was loved by numerous nieces and nephews. In-laws: Clarence Lewis (Deceased), Mable Lewis-Hill/Butch (deceased), Thecla/John Turco, Frieda Lewis, Nancy Armstrong, Pamela/Tom Blue, Patsy-Jennifer Lewis, Diane Lewis (deceased), Cheryl Lynn/Darren Tremblay. Special family of Linda and Doug Peterson.

Friends and family are welcomed to gather at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522) on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a traditional ceremony.  Calvin will be cremated after the service.  We extend our miigwetch’s to EMS, and the health unit in ICU at SAH. 

Chato Gonzalez will conduct a service for Anishnaabe that will consist of a traditional ceremony, visitations and viewing, ceremony and feast. We will commence at 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.  Calvin’s wish in a cremation will be honored, thus there will be no burial.  Please arrive 15-20 minutes early for instruction and be seated.
