DUNN, CHARLES EDWIN (EDDIE) 1946-2023 - passed away gently and quietly at the Sault Area Hospital with his wife of almost 57 years, Jeanne (nee Wray) and his oldest son, Brian Edwin, by his side in the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
He leaves behind his two sons, of whom he is so proud, Brian (Anne) and Craig (Patricia).
He is the very special Poppa to his 3 beautiful granddaughters Tara Dunn (Josh Maki), Ashley Dunn, Kate Dunn and Poppa Eddie to his sweet new great granddaughter Isla Maki. Eddie was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, son of the late Margaret Morphy (nee Clayton) and stepson and good friend to the late Carl Morphy. Brother to Kathleen Portelli (Louis) and Brian Dunn. Son-in-law to the late George and late Marnie Wray and brother-in-law to the late John Wray (Anna).
Eddie began working at Algoma Steel at a young age, moving to Parks Canada for many years before relocating his family to Southern Ontario in 1986 to begin a new adventure in designing and installing automotive paint systems at various automotive facilities across Southern Ontario. Eddie was a hard worker but a fair and honest employer who certainly enjoyed a challenge!
Eddie and Jeanne were very fortunate to have travelled and enjoyed so many adventures together across Canada, US and Europe during their many years together.
In keeping with his wishes, visitation will be held at the Arthur Funeral Home- Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East, 705-759-2522) on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Mrs. Mary Alice Policicchio officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations (payable online or by cheque) to the charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
