At the Great Northern Nursing Centre on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Beryl Duncan and the late Janet Duncan. Dear father of George (Lorraine), Bob (Kathleen), Matt (late Rosemarie) and Irene Schopp (Herb). Grandfather of Thomas Duncan (Jennifer), Anne Duncan (Chris Duggan), Jeff Schopp (Patti), Karen Derasp (Mike) and great grandfather of eight. Step-father of Robert Ogden (Ginny) and Bonnie Thatcher. Predeceased by many brothers and sisters all of Scotland. Dear friend of Ian Hollingsworth. George served with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders during WWII in North Africa. After the war he played with Muirhead & Sons and won the World Pipe Band Championships in 1955 and 1956. In 1958 he came to Canada with his family and joined the 49th Field Regiment R.C.A. He also received the Centennial Medal 1967 and in 1992 a special medal from Queen Elizabeth which recognized Canadians from all walks of life for their efforts in making our land and community a better place in which to live. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from 7 – 9 pm. Funeral service from the chapel on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Rev.
