The family of George Dowdall is sad to announce the passing of their dear
father and grandfather on Friday, December 16th, 2005. George, in his 87th
year, was predeceased by his wife Jean (nee Banks - 1997) and is survived by
his daughter Nancy (Bruce Clarke) and his six sons - Bill (Liz), Kevin
(Heather), Bob (Bonnie), David (Sandy), Paul (Karen), and Peter (Christine).
The memory of Grandpa George, his stories, and his pocketful of peppermints,
will be forever cherished by his many grandchildren.
George was born September 26, 1919, in Nipissing Township, and was an avid
fisherman and hunter. Together with his wife Jean, he enjoyed visiting with
family and friends and was always up for a friendly game of cards. George
was predeceased by his parents Deacie and Pricilla, his sisters Francis,
Irma and Leoma, and is survived by his sibling Ivah Rose, Islah Downton,
Lester and Murray.
Visitation will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home (across from City Hall)
on Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 – 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held from the
Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in
the spring in the family plot at the Nipissing Village Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society will be gratefully
acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
