(October 30, 1935 - April 10, 2013)

Don Henley passed away on April 10, 2013 at Hospice House of the EUP in Sault Ste Marie. Don was born in Cleveland and in 1957 graduated from Case Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He really found his niche in business, however, earning an MBA and DBA from Harvard. Dr. Henley was a professor at Michigan State (MSU) for 12 years before moving to Boston to pursue a successful career as a consultant.

Don was a brilliant, generous, friendly man. Many young people had the opportunity to work with him at MSU and later at Henley Associates and benefited from his positive influence and good advice as they went on to successful careers of their own. Beloved by his business associates and wide circle of friends, he left everyone a bit better for having known him.

Don loved children and, whatever he was doing, always had time to stop and share a joke with a little boy or girl. He was delighted when grandchildren started to arrive and has five of them: Sam, Sophie, and Colman Hills; and Max and Olivia Henley.

Don's loving family will miss his stories and jokes, his courage, and his lovely smile. He leaves his wife Angela, children Kristen Henley-Hills (David) and Rod Henley (Kate), sister Sue Hanley (Pete), and extended family: Vivienne Scott, Joe Trevisan, Idalia Scott, David Iles, Lauren Iles, Cole Hanley, Cindy and Craig Wysocki, Elizabeth Luters, Sheila Trevisan, Claire Henley, and many more.

The family especially wishes to thank Dr. Andrew Barbash for his unfailing care and support. Becky Hank has been a true friend and helper. Thank you to Paul Raappana for your spiritual guidance. Dr. Hashem and his nurse Misty Barbeaux, the staff and the superb rehab team at War Memorial Hospital, the people at Comunity Action, all helped make Don's life easier and more comfortable. All the friends who welcomed us to Sault Ste Marie, made our life together here a joy. Thank you to all of you.

In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes may make a donation in Don's name to Hospice House of the EUP.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 2 pm on Wednesday April 17, at the C.S. Mulder Funeral Home. A visitation will begin at 1 pm.
