Posted

Passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 79. Born in Casacanditella (Chieti) Italy in 1932, Silvio emigrated to Sault Ste. Marie in 1951 and started work with the PUC at the age of 19. Returning to Italy in 1960 to marry Assunta Di Renzo (nee Tatonetti), Silvio raised two sons, and loved to pass his time at camp, in the garden and reading about current events. Strong in life and faith, Silvio battled Parkinson’s disease for the last 21 years of his life, never losing the smile from his face when seeing the people he loved. Silvio is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Assunta, and sons Anthony (Colleen) and Paolo (Irma). Proud Nonno of Jia and Max. Brother of the late Alfonso (Lina), Piacentina (Blanche) Di Labio (late Antonio) and Rocco (Linda). Brother-in-law of Lidia Frani (Americo), Casimiro Tatonetti (Carmella) and of Italy Bruno Tatonetti (Giuseppina). Zio of many nieces, nephews and their children. Silvio was an active member of the Marconi Society. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 6-9 pm. Funeral Mass to be celebrated from St. Gregory’s Catholic Church on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 9 am. Rev. Eric Pannike officiating. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum. Memorial contributions to the Parkinson Society Canada, FJ Davey Home Foundation or to the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family. Thank you to Sault Area Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Dr. Ianni, the staff of 3C and especially 1B of the FJ Davey Home for their care and friendship, and to all family and friends over the years. In te, Domine, speravi. Non confundar in aeternum. Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com

A million times I’ve needed you
A million times I’ve cried,
If love could have saved you
You never would have died.
Things we feel most deeply
Are the hardest things to say,
My dearest one, I loved you,
In a very special way.
If I could have one lifetime wish
One dream that could come true,
I’d pray to God with all my heart
For yesterday and you.
