DePasquale, Edward Ralph David ‘Ed, Mr.De, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle’

With great sadness, after a long courageous battle with cancer we announce Ed's passing on April 13, 2024, at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 77, in the arms of his wife and love of his life Gioconda ‘Jackie’ (nee Coccimiglio).

Born in Sault Ste Marie, the eldest son of the late Daniel and Jacqueline DePasquale. Son in law of the late Francesco and Rosa Coccimiglio. Loving and proud father of Tammy Bennardo (Joseph) and Edward Jr. (Amy). Adored Grandfather of Mariah Jo Bennardo (Noah Lasante), Stephane and Nicola Bennardo, Elise Marie and Ashton Edward DePasquale and Great Grandpa of Vito and Luca Bennardo.

Cherished brother of Brenda (Dave) Redfern, Danny (late Debbie) DePasquale and the late Brent (Shirley) DePasquale. Dearest Brother-in-law of Teresa Albidone, Santino (Sandra) Coccimiglio, Ida Guido (Fiore), late Emma (late Michele) Giardino, late Geniale (late Luisa) Coccimiglio, late Maria (Gaetano) Guidoccio, late Adolfo (late Marisa) Coccimiglio and the late Diolanda (late Angelo) Guidoccio. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. De retired after 32 years of teaching for the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board. He enjoyed his retirement at camp with his family and friends. Sunsets, cold drinks, bonfires and fireworks. Ed loved fishing, especially Salmon fishing in the fall. He will be remembered for his sense of humour, one liners, sarcasm and silly songs. If you had a cat he had a song for you.

Always remember “the best time to go fishing is when you can” Ed.

A special thank you to the 3B staff who cared for Ed and helped to make his long days and nights a little better with your care and compassion. Thank you to all the many Doctors, Lab Technicians, Diagnostic imaging staff, food services, housekeeping, physio /OT, cancer clinic staff, ICU staff, 3C management and staff and all the health care providers who worked so hard to care for Ed over the last six months. Thank you all for making a difference.

Family and friends are invited to O’Sullivan Funeral Home on Thursday April 18, 2024, from 10:00am-1:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30pm at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church (114 MacDonald Ave.) with Father Peter Nwachukwu officiating. Burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery to follow.
