DELUZIOPeacefully in Extendicare Van Daele on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the age of 80 years. Beloved wife for over 50 years of the late John Deluzio. Cherished mother of Jane (Joseph McAllister); Joanne (Marshall Chasin); Jim (Elaine Blakeborough); and Jeff (Nancy Quinn). Loving grandma of James, Christina, Courtney, Meredith, Shaun, Tierney and Tianna. Sister of: Margaret Patterson, John Patterson (Martha), late Ronnie Patterson (Rosemary), David Patterson (Carol), Gloria Perlini (Gerry), Robert Patterson (Sheila) and Dan Patterson (Susan). Sister-in-law of: the late Sandy and Bert Paciocco, the late Albert and Irene Deluzio, the late Reno Deluzio, the late Marion and Nello Zucatto and the late Terry Deluzio (Dorothy). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Doreen retired in 1989 as Director of Nursing at the Plummer Hospital after an extensive nursing career. She served six years on the Board of Governors for Sault College including two in the role of Chair. As Chair, she was a member of the Council of Governors of the Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario, now Colleges Ontario, and was Chair of this provincial organization for two years. She was also a founding board member of the Algoma Community Care Access Centre. In June 2000, she received the Dr. William Hutchinson Award from the Sault Area Hospital, which is presented annually to a resident of the Algoma District for exemplary contributions to health services. Doreen was a long-time member of St. Gregory’s Parish where in addition to serving on many committees, she will be remembered for her service as church organist. Friends are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Gregory’s Church on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Father Trevor Scarfone officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital would be appreciated.
