It is with deepest sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Arlene Delaney in the early morning hours of October 31, 2022 at the bright age of 88. Only child of Francis (Tip) Luxton and Dorothy (Dee) Rubenstein.

Arlene was so much to so many. Greatly beloved mother of Michelle Broek-Hammond (Willem Broek), Terri Hammond (Jim Rain), and Michael Hammond (Lori Young). Cherished Nana of Chris Frechette (Chrissy), Brian Nori, Scott Frechette, Tianna Nori and Andrea Hammond and Great Nani to Kohen, Tristan and Mylie. Her love continued fully to her extended family, Serge Broek (Wanda), Leo Broek (Fadime), Janse Rain (Amber), Jenna Rain, Ryan Legassic, Sofie, Guusje and Alyssa Broek, Jett and Crew Rain.

Arlene leaves a great void in her passing as her joy of life and love of helping and serving touched so many areas of family, friends and community. Arlene worked as a legal secretary for most of her life and was extremely active in her Church community gaining her many lifelong friendships. Her ministries included Communion to the sick, Greeter, Lector, President then secretary/treasurer of the CWL. She was passionate about volunteering at ARCH, the Public Library, the Davey Home and was forever providing rides, comfort and assistance to anyone in need. She was always on the go and always ready to say yes when someone was in need.

She was a strong prayer warrior but still loved a good party and when the music was playing Arlene was a swayin’. Nobody could match her dance moves! Always up for a wine spritzer and a good tongue wag especially by the water or the bonfire or while watching a beautiful sunset. She loved travel, games nights, two bite brownies, zipping around in her little Jeep and weekends with her girls. Family was everything. Her grace and gratitude was present in all she did.

The world is just a little bit dimmer now but heaven is shining brightly. We love you Mom and will miss every morning conversation and every evening recount of the day. Our hearts are broken but our faith as you taught us will see us through.

Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass at St. Veronica’s Church (559 Douglas St, SSM) at 11:00 am on Friday, November 4, 2022.
