On Dec 5, 2022 in her 81st year, our beloved mother, Omi, sister, aunt, fishing buddy and friend passed away peacefully with family by her side. Mother of Brigitte and Kristine. Omi to Dexter, Megan, Alissa (Kealin) and Jami (Scott). Great-Omi to Jarred, Destinee, Jacklynn, Kolton and Jude. Loving companion to Ron. Sister to Lotte and her late siblings Willi, Anni, Tony, and Theresa, and dearest friend to Elizabeth and Anni.  She was a much loved Tante Erika to many nieces and nephews. Special friend to Brenda (Derek) and Brad (Jessica) and special Omi to Lauren, Ben and Colton. She will be joining her husband Dieter, her mother Theresa, father Rupert and her brothers and sisters in heaven.

Erika was born in Klagenfurt, Austria. She moved to Sault Ste Marie when she was 10 with her sister Lotte and mother Theresa. She married her husband Dieter at 17 and had two girls, Kristine and Brigitte. As a family they had many adventures together in Northern Ontario. She dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a nurse, caregiver and residential support worker. She was compassionate, smart, and always feisty.  Her generosity, warmth and zest for life was felt by all those around her. She always had a couple of jokes and stories ready to go, and was always up for a cold Blue and a game of cards. Every summer she went to Como and Windemere Lakes to meet up and party with her fishing buddies, to show new friends her favourite spots and to teach her kids and grandkids how to fish and live life to the fullest.

We will miss her kisses and warm hugs, losing to her in cards, and her home filled with many laughs and all of her favourite things.

We would like to thank the staff of the Sault Area Hospital, especially the ICU and cardiology teams. We are also grateful to Dr. John Graham and the St Michael’s Hospital Staff in Toronto for caring for her earlier this year and giving her an extra eight full months of life that gifted her another summer fishing on Como Lake, trips to Collingwood and Toronto to visit with family and to meet her youngest great-grandson, Jude.

Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made (by cheque or online) to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Diabetes Canada.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Dahlmann family.
