May 11th, 1931- April 13th, 2024

Maisie was a God-fearing woman who passed into eternal life to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on April 13th, 2024, at 92 years of age.

Maisie was born in London, England in 1931 to parents Herbert and Christina Haggar.

She was predeceased by her sister Stella and brother Cyril, and is survived by her younger brother Eddie.

She met her future husband Fred in the choir at Grace Church, Newmarket where they married in 1959. They remained happily married until his death in 1994.

Maisie was the loving mother of her son Ronald with whom she lived during the last years of her life. Together they moved from Newmarket to Alliston and then later to Sault Ste. Marie. Maisie spent the last three years of her life at Extendicare Van Daele Manor, where she was very well cared for by the compassionate and caring staff.

Maisie trained as a registered nurse and midwife in the U.K. and later emigrated to Canada in 1958. She continued her nursing career at various Toronto hospitals and then moved to Newmarket and practised at York County Hospital, and also did private nursing.

Maisie led a life of service to others. Her generous, joy-filled heart was a guiding light and support to many - as a Sunday school teacher, foster mother to many young children, ESL tutor to new Canadians, a reading buddy to many kindergarten school children and loving friend to all who had the privilege to know her.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Grace Church, Newmarket ON. followed by a reception.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”. 2 Timothy 4:7
