CRAWFORD, Donald James (Jim)

Posted

After a short battle with cancer, with his wife and family by his side, at the Sault Area Hospital (Plummer Site), August 25, 2008. Jim was born on January 17, 1946 and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, the son of Rena (Morton) and Clarence (Pat) Crawford (deceased). On June 24, 1972, Jim married Helen Joyce Eddy (Kelly) and after their marriage, he adopted her daughter, Kathryn Joyce (Wayne Hayman). From a previous marriage, a grandson was born. Alexander John Francis McGlinn was the love of his grandfather’s life, and Alex will miss him immensely. He is survived by a sister and two brothers all living in Sault Ste. Marie; Pat Sandie (Joe, deceased), Frances (Lois) and Dr. Alan (Mavis), referred to as his big brother. Also surviving Jim, is his mother in law, Elva Eddy (Leonard, deceased), and her four sons along with their families. Leonard of Armstrong, B.C., Richard (Lynne) of Windsor, Ontario, Robert (Ellen) and Bruce (Kathy) both of Sault Ste. Marie. Jim’s extended family of nieces and nephews and their families will grieve his absence in their lives. His friends and coworkers along with their families held a special place in his heart. At his request, he was cremated without the fanfare of a funeral ceremony. His ashes will be kept and dispersed with his wife’s ashes at the time of her death. It is anticipated that a gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Surviving Jim are his precious collies, Jesse Jane and Cognac. In memory of his love for dogs and birds, we wish that donations be made to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society through the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (759-2522) or directly to the Humane Society.

I looked upon a rose today

Glistening with morning dew

And found its shining beauty

Reminded me of you.

But the rose has just a season

Before its petals part

While you shall bloom forever

In the garden of my heart.
