It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Félix Courchesne, on April 10 2024.
He is predeceased by his first wife Rose Marie (Turgeon), his son Hal (Iyla), daughter Shirley, and his second wife Louise (Croswell). He is survived with wonderful memories by his sons Reginald (Jamie) and David (Lola), and also his dear friend Dorothy Ann Lalonde. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ryan, Aaron, Daniel, Debbie, Bradley, Tyler, Morgan, Christine, and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
He was the son of the late Réginald and Jeanne (Simon) Courchesne. Ray was the oldest of six children, followed by Rhéal, Réjean, Réjeanne, (late) Réanne and Raymonde.
Ray was born in Gogama, Ontario, and lived his life across northern Ontario while working for Ontario Hydro. He enjoyed the many years he was involved in the Boy Scouts of Canada, where he was known as Scouter, Akela or Standing Bear. Ray was proud of his mother tongue; he’d smile when he heard someone speaking French, always wanting to join in the conversation.
In keeping with Ray’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. His memory and spirit will live on with all who were touched by his life.
He has now joined “the voice we hear in the wind”.

C’est avec une grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Raymond Félix Courchesne, survenu le 10 avril 2024. Il fut prédécédé par sa première épouse, Rose Marie (née Turgeon), son fils Hal (Iyla), sa fille Shirley et sa seconde épouse, Louise (née Croswell). Il laisse dans le deuil et avec de nombreux souvenirs ses fils Reginald (Jamie) et David (Lola), et sa chère amie Dorothy Ann Lalonde. Il laisse également dans le deuil ses petits-enfants Ryan, Aaron, Daniel, Debbie, Bradley, Tyler, Morgan, Christine, de nombreux arrière-petits-enfants, neveux, nièces, et plusieurs amis.
Il était le fils de feu Réginald Félix et de feu Jeanne Courchesne (née Simon). Ray était l’aîné de six enfants; il était suivi de Rhéal, Réjean, Réjeanne, (feu) Réanne et Raymonde.
Ray est né à Gogama, en Ontario, et a vécu sa vie dans le nord de l’Ontario tout en travaillant pour ‘Ontario Hydro’. Il a également apprécié ses nombreuses années impliquées dans les ‘Boy Scouts of Canada’ ou il était connu sous les noms de ‘Scouter’, ‘Akela’ ou encore ‘Standing Bear’. Ray était fier de sa langue maternelle, il souriait toujours lorsqu’il entendait quelqu’un parler français, voulant se joindre à la conversation.
Conformément aux souhaits de Ray, il n’y aura ni visites ou services funéraires.
Sa mémoire et son esprit vivrons auprès de tous ceux et celles qui ont été touchés par sa vie.
Il a maintenant rejoint "la voix que nous entendons dans le vent".
