CASE, Robert Andrew (Casey)

Posted

October 31, 1937 – August 4, 2012 – I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. My journey has ended. At home with his wife by his side on Saturday, August 4, 2012 in his 75th year. Casey loved his family deeply. Loving husband for 45 years of Carole. Incredible father of Michael (Kim), late Stephen, Rhonda Overland (Tim) and Lisa. Best Papa and Grandpa of Mitchell, Samantha and Brendan Case, Jesse and Jamie Pitt and Casey Overland. Step grandfather of Leslie Moreau (Aaron) and great grandpa to Owen. Special grandfather to Ryan and Kyle and Papa Case to many. Son of the late Roy and Dorothy Case. Brother of Melbourne “Bodo” (late Lorna “Dolly”), late Gordon (Irene), Noreen Veltri (late Frank), Murina Jodoin (Roland), late Martha Tilley (Doug), John “Jack” (Grace), late Della Jeffrey (Doug), Mary Lynn Smith (Wayne), Norman and Ken (Rose). Brother in law of Ronald Taylor (Lynne), Shelley Graham (Ian)(late Ken) and Pam Foisy (Paul). Fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Son-in-law and best friend of the late Ronald and Florence Taylor. Special friend of Bert and Marie Muttit, Ricky McLeod, Gene and Joan McCauley, Richard and Audrey Harrison, Angelique Lemay and Maggie. Special thanks to lifelong friends Harold and Shirley McCarthy for their generosity of love and support throughout Casey’s journey. Our gratitude and acknowledgement to Dr. Catania, Dr. Berg, Dr. Bignell, Dr. Gupta, Dr. Reich, Dr. Mukherjee, Dr. Fratesi and Dr. Buehner; Laura, RN who combined excellence in nursing homecare with gentle kindness and compassion, and the numerous doctors, nurses, paramedics and volunteers that throughout the years helped Casey fight the fight. Casey grew up on Case Road and started working on a farm at age 10. Throughout this life he would say “a little work never hurt anyone”. At age 17, Casey moved to Goulais and worked for many local entrepreneurs. He met Carole and they went on to establish Case Construction. Casey loved his work and would say “find something you love to do and you will never work a day in your life”. Casey had too many “Caseyisms” to mention but that will continue to be recited fondly by family and friends for years to come. In July 2012, Casey was honoured by the Goulais Area Recreation Committee with an award that acknowledged his significant contributions and lifelong service in the community. In retirement, Casey and Carole loved travelling to Biloxi, Mississippi for winters and in recent years, they spent wonderful summers at their second home at Sunset Shores, Batchawana Bay with many new and old friends. Casey will be remembered as a loving, humble, kind, generous, funny, thoughtful husband, father, grandpa and friend. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 9 pm. Funeral service in the chapel on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 (time to be announced). Cremation to follow. Memorial contributions to the SAH Critical Care Fund, ARCH or the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be appreciated. Expressions of sympathy may be offered at  www.arthurfuneralhome.com
