CARRUTHERS, Dean Hartley

 Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital with his family by his side on Saturday January 7, 2012 at the age of 67 years.  Beloved husband of Ann for 44 years.  Devoted, loving and proud father of Billy, Scott (Pam) and the late Elizabeth Ann.  Adoring and loving Poppa of Amelia and Joshua.  Dear son of the late Agnes and Elmer Carruthers and special son of Grace Carruthers.  Loving brother of Donna Mather, Bud Carruthers, Susanne Zinkie, Cynthia Abel and the late Gary Carruthers.  Dean was loved by his many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Dean came to Wawa in 1967 and was a faithful employee of A.O.D./A.S.I. for 33 years before retiring.  Dean loved watching and teaching his sons the game of hockey.  He volunteered his time as a coach with Wawa Minor Hockey and continued to be very supportive in all aspects of the boys lives and in all the different sports they participated in from their childhood through to their adult lives.  Dean also enjoyed cheering for the Soo Greyhounds.  Dean will be missed “around town”.  Family and friends may visit at the P.M. Gilmartin Funeral Home (140 Churchill Avenue, Wawa, 1-800-439-4937) on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.  A funeral service will be held at St. Monica’s Church on Friday January 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Bonnie Rayner officiating.  Spring interment at the Woodland Cemetery, Wawa.  Memorial donations made to the Wawa Food Bank, St. Paul’s Anglican Church or to the charity of you choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
