On New Year's Day 1965, Roy and Alice (Alton) Mick welcomed their youngest of 5 daughters, Colleen Connie to the world. Right from the beginning, this freckle faced brown eyed beauty was a force to be reckoned with.

Growing up in Echo Bay Ontario, she spent a lot of time fishing with her dad at camp, cooking with her mom, and running the roads with her sisters and friends. Early on, she developed a love of camping, bonfires, fishing, gardening, music, and animals.

Into her teenaged years, she was a bit of a wild child and soon fell in love.  She became a mom and married at a young age. While they were not destined for forever, her in-laws always held a special place in her heart.

Colleen found love again with an American gentle giant and found herself living in Michigan. She became a stepmom and eventually a mom again. There were many years of love, laughter, adventures, and life. She adored her Carey family.

Colleen had a huge heart. She loved her children, grandchildren, family, and her beloved dogs, cats, chickens, horses, and her rescued wild animals.

Sadly, sometimes she was only able to love those closest to her heart from afar, but love you she did.  Don't ever doubt that.

Colleen, like so many, had demons that chased her all her life. She found comfort in her faith, even on her darkest days.  She tried to fight and sometimes it seemed like she was winning. But life is not always a fairy tale and there isn't always a happily ever after. Our love could not save her.

Colleen was a mom to Owen (Hannah), Jordan (Melissa), step-mom to Jeremy (Rise), and grandmother to Ava, Oliver, Kelsey-Ann, and Howard. She was the sister of Evelyn & Clayton, Nelda & Roger, Glenna, and Karen & Les. She loved her many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She treasured every minute of her time with Son Owen, especially over this past year.  Her niece Rhonda was one of her dearest friends and she was like a second Mom to Courtney & Davey. Tim will always be the love of her life.

Colleen left this world on the rainy evening of November 9 knowing she was dearly loved.  Our deepest thanks to everyone at War Memorial Hospital, Henry Ford Hospital,  Ball Hospice House, and Tina & Chrystal at UP Health System , for their kindness and care. And to Terri and Lorrie, Colleen's devoted friends, you meant the world to her.

In honour of Colleen, please consider making a donation in her memory to the Chippewa County Animal Shelter, Ball Hospice House, ARCH, or The Animal Assistance Group. When the frogs begin to sing again, the bonfire will be lit, and we gather to celebrate her life.  Clark Hovie Galer Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.galerfuneralhomes.com
