(December 25, 1924 - October 23, 2020) - Passed away peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2020 in his 96th year.

Dear husband of Norma (Girardi) for 69 years. Loving father of Vera Berlingieri (Tony), Eric (Janie) and Brenda.  Adored Nono of Paul Berlingieri (Sherry), Andrea Berlingieri, Rob Capancioni, Marc Capancioni (Jennifer) and Alyssa Katagis (Peter).  His five great grandchildren Luciana, Max, Liam, Leo and Emmie brought so much joy into his life.  Predeceased by his parents Enrico and Elvira, his brother Elmo (Mary) and sisters Lyda Muscatello (Tony) and Elia Schiratti (Ermo).  Survived by his sister Edna Sartor (late Nello).  Also predeceased by cousin Frank Fioravanti (Ida).  Uncle Essie will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.  Already missed by the family cat Stella.

Essio worked at Algoma Steel from the age of 17 and retired after 40 years.  He also worked part time for over 30 years at LeRoy's TV on James St.  Dad was a lifelong member of the G. Marconi Society where he enjoyed many a party and playing bocce with his friends.  He also enjoyed many wonderful trips to Florida with his wife Norma.  He loved carrying on his Italian traditions of wine and salami making with his family. He especially enjoyed his daily wine and brandy which he said attributed to his long and healthy life.  Dad's greatest joy was being with family, enjoying things that make life so good; love, laughter and food.

A private family service will be held.  Memorial contributions to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Cancer Care Fund or to ARCH Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you to Dr. Chris Bruni (Sharon and Lori), staff on 2A at the Sault Area Hospital, especially Dr. Parsons for their care and compassion.  Also a special thank you to the home care workers.

Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522).  Please visit Arthur Funeral Home website obituaries to leave a message of condolence for Essio's family.
